Our Grant Process
Requests for grants must be from nonprofit organizations that promote the arts, heritage, education, the environment and social services in Sandy Springs and improve the lives of Sandy Springs residents. Our Philanthropy Committee reviews all the applications and supporting material and conducts site visits before decisions are made.
Since its inception, The Society has awarded over $5.4 million in grants. The grant process is competitive, and each year a vast number of grant requests are received totaling more than 150% of available funds.
The following criteria must be met:
- Organizations must verify their 501(c)(3) status
- Organizations must be non-partisan and secular.
- Organizations with religious affiliations may qualify only if they hold a separate 501(c)3 from their sponsoring religious organization. All requests must be non-secular.
- Grants must be used within twelve months from time of distribution.
- Grants must be used solely for the project as stated in the acceptance letter.
Our Grant Process for the Richard Brown Fund
This fund awards a cash gift to be distributed through a qualifying 501(c)(3) organization. It is to benefit an individual or family with expenses that would directly improve their quality of life. In the past, we have granted funds for items such as medical expenses relief and other unexpected expenses.
Since its inception, the Society has awarded grants in the amount of over $5.4 Million.
